If was a little difficult to workout what on earth was going on.
The surface looked very poor so maybe there were issues with putting down the power.
XKR 1,753KG
XFR 1,891KG
so not much difference in weight, did the XKR have more people and a fuller tank?
From about 50s in the video the XKR seems to have backed off to let the camera man have a better view. At the start of the run the engine noise on the vid is also rather quiet so perhaps he wasn't really going for it to start with.

Very interesting as I am currently trying to decide between the two for my next car.
I was hoping someone would find out the performance difference. To discover the difference is small should be no surprise, it only amounts to a large passenger or two small ones. You have to say the XFR is very impressive and the 5.0 V8 shrugs off the extra weight with ease. It also compares very well with the other cars it races on youtube, keeping a 550 maranello honest and leaving an audi R8 for dust!
I think there is room for a lighter, sharper XKR. It has gained 100kg over the previous 4.2 XKR, and I for one could live without electric seats.
While on the subject of weight can anyone explain how the XKR weighs more than the current XJR? Both are aluminium and the XJ is a much bigger car.

Was discussing this yesterday with the guys from Jag at the PH day at Brands.
Apparently the engine mapping is identical between XF & XK so any minor variations are down to the XK being ali against the XF being steel. Certainly the XK felt much quicker from the passengers seat & that active exhaust noise was fantastic!

Not much of an argument there.
As to XFR vs XKR I'd wait till the US mags start road testing these things. The UK ones seemed to have given up trying. The US results from the older XKR were so much faster.
The best 0-60 and 0-100 I've seen is 4.3 and 9.6 for the XFR. No XKR tests yet.As to XFR vs XKR I'd wait till the US mags start road testing these things. The UK ones seemed to have given up trying. The US results from the older XKR were so much faster.

I think someone posted a link to the 4.2XKR being run to 60 in 4.3s by one of the US rags. They didn't care about the official policy of letting the AM get there first.
TR7V8, I think I might have taken you out at Brands...
XF definately steel & weighs about the same as M5, but 625Nm of torque from 2000RPM overcomes a lot!
Most impressive I reckon is 1.9s 50-70mph..faster than some Astons and Lamborginis come to mention it.
I am biased as I work there though and XF is 'my' baby.

Another one, this time XFR vs Audi R8

Was that the R8 at the start?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53W8PEOVXvo&fea...
Lots of nice metal in the video, but seemed like such a waste just doing silly parade laps.
