Hi all,

Took a trip recently from Aylesbury to Horsham and back. I found out I'd forgotton my wallet, didn't have time to turn back so tried to make the trip on the fuel in the tank.

I was amazed to find I made it! Driving sensibly for the rest of the week I ended up with the following MPG average:



1992 Daimler 4.0 Auto (XJ40 shape).

On the trip itself I actually averaged 32MPG!

I'm sorry but I'm guessing that your ECU is about to die and it's probably an engine out job.

I managed to get 28mpg on my XJR6 with supercharger. That was mixed driving. Motorway/A-class/in town roads. Granted it was 60mph on the motorway.
Driving to London on the motorway I managed 22.5mpg, with cruise control set to something quite a bit north of 60mph. Jag's are still way more cost effective than plane or train if you've got at least one passenger. I couldn't get flights or the train for less than £100 return from Scotland so the Jag seemed the next logical solution.

My x350 XJR is currently averaging 21.9 MPG, mainly a mixture of town pootling and cruising down the M4 most days combined with a joy of decent acceleration when possible :-)

That did drop to 9mpg though when I was commuting through Reading and doing 4.1 miles in 45mins! LOL

I use mine to commute from Aberdeen to Edinburgh once a month. At 40p/mile it still works out cheaper and faster than the train!
