Sunday-driver - look what you've made me do!
Seeing you selling my old XJR to trade up to a XKR made me starting thinking about jags again so I make a few calls and find myself in a showroom..............
I had a good look over it and should have left it that but then the nice dealer suggested I push the starter button and 500bhp erupted into a serious sounding idle - it was love a first listen!
The car also had some nice options including B&W sound, rear camera and television
Pick it up next week! Can't wait.

Picking it up tomorrow - getting very excited now!
The more I read about this car the more I realise it's right for me.
I didn't even test drive the car!
Other options it has include blind spot monitor (not sure if this will be much use) and heated steering wheel which will be nice with winter on the way.
The only option other option I'd have liked is voice control but hardly essential (I've had it before and find it useful for making phone calls, but not much else)

new to this group...just bought SWMBO and XFR, we picked it up yesterday, great Jag dealership treatment...my wife has been on the school run with it and thinks it nice and quite and smooth. I took it out last night and selected 's', wow what a great car, quick, smooth and sounds delightful.....thinking it should be mine now and not my wife's, doooh!!!

Jagseven, I am speechless (apologies for late reply been in another zone for a few weeks and have been catching up). But I am speechless you went and finally got rid of your much hyped Ford Scooby-Doo Family Van. Black with black. XFR. Toys. I hope you didn't tell your wife I was the inspiration for this self indulgence.
My real concern: I am going to have to go and get the 5.0 XKR now! Damn. This could get out of hand. On the plus side, I look forward to buying it off you in 2 years time as per tradition, and with that in mind please look after my/our car carefully.

Not a great picture but here she is!
Don't worry Sunday-Driver I think SWMBBO has just about forgiven me and your name hasn't been mentioned!
It really is a joy to drive - a real sports saloon feel.
The car is almost run in now (I didn't mean to buy brand new but the car I phoned up about had just been sold and they were willing to do a good deal on a stock car that was about the become their new demonstrator) so looking forward to seeing what she can do but it already fits into "oh my god this car is ridiculously quick category" and that's witout going above 4k revs which looking at the power curve is where I get around 380bhp - soon I'll see what the other 120bhp brings to the party!
Not as practical as the s-max and 6-year-old daughter has already said she preferred the old car ("daddy you're going too fast, it makes my tummy feel funny")- aaaaaahhhhhh - but a man's got to do what a man's got to do!
I'll try and look after her for you!

Beautiful, just beautiful. Do you find it makes a big difference if you push the S button? Any more pictures when you get a chance would be appreciated - I haven't seen an XFR on the road yet, and wonder how different it is from the other XF models.
Don't worry about washing it for us!
By the way, and I speak from personal experience, it takes younger kids a little while to get used to new Jags. It's not just the speed, it's the smell of leather and everything else. Once she's won over there will be no going back to S-max's and the like!

I think I'd just washed the wheels before the photo - either that or car must have wet itself!
Sports mode (selected from the transmission knob) makes a big difference - I've not used it much yet but it certainly adds plenty of revs to the engine speed - I will be experimenting some more over the coming weeks.
Of more interest to me is "dynamic mode" which can be used in addition or as an alternative to Sports mode. This really sharpens things up nicely by stiffening the suspension, increasing shift speed, improving throttle response etc - I like this mode a lot and unlike Sports mode, which can be wearing (a bit too "revy") if you are not pushing on, you can happily leave dynamic mode on even for normal cruising.
I sometimes wish the exhaust was louder - from the outside it sounds fantastic - but it's incredibly quiet and refined on the inside (perhaps I will grow to appreciate this more). But overall it's a fabulous piece of kit. Just knowing I've got over 500bhp to play with in my "boring" saloon is enough for me. Would love to have the XKR but I need 4 seats and the fact the seats fold down means it can still do the tip run!

After a very happy ownership experience this car is now up for sale to be replaced by a new XFR due at the end of March. If someone wants to get in before it goes to trade then let me know. Link to advert.

Hi jagseven.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...
I noticed that in the advert you have an optional Spires exhaust to go with the car.
Was it ever fitted and, if so, did you notice a difference?
Just that I'm thinking of putting one on mine and don't want to waste my money.
