XKR seat belt light

I don't wear a seat belt ever -- which my '04 XK8 tolerates: it just displays the red belt alarm icon all the time.

But I went for my first test drive in an ('07) XKR yesterday with a view to buying it - and the flaming seat belt alarm never stopped bleeping at me.

But it was a short drive: can anyone tell me if the alert sound turns itself off after a few annoying minutes?

Alternatively, is there an easy way to de-activate the sound permanently?

Otherwise, I won't be upgrading!

Yup, wear the seatbelt.

These cars are pretty good safety wise for passenger protection, seen a few smashed up where the occupants have walked away with minimal injuries, not wearing a seatbelt P100 is just bloody mindedness IMO, The car might save your life one day if only you would let it

I always wear a seat belt as a passenger but I find it too restrictive to drive in and I feel a better and safer driver without one so I'll take my chances.

Now, about that warning bleep...

put your seat belt on matey and you won't have to worry about any beeps

do it for your own safety , the airbag alas will not stop you flying through the windscreen and ending up with a face like a squashed tomato

You yourself might be the safest driver in the world , but when one of these numpties comes around a corner on the wrong side of the road its goodnight vienna

The seatbelt warning never goes off, it'll beep for about 30 secs then go off for a bit then back on again then off etc etc you get the picture.

If wearing a seatbelt is the only reason you won't upgrade you'll be missing out big time for the sake of not wearing it. Just put it on get used to it and enjoy it.

The seatbelt is a tad inconvenient - if you need to get something out of the passenger footwell or out of the boot while driving along.. I hope nobody loves you when and if the time comes for you exit out of the driver door window and get snapped in half (happened local to me to a non-seatbealt wearer last year).

That said, perhaps you could cut a seatbelt plug out of a scrapper and leave it permanently plugged in. Or fasten the seatbelt and sit on it.

Thanks - good idea. Now on the prowl for a scrapper. Or, instead of sitting on the belt, would it stretch around the back of the seat to the socket?

Think there is a scrapper in our local breakers yard

the car is in quite good nick with only the windscreen and bonnet damaged , apparantly the guy was'nt wearing a seat belt and flew through the screen and landed on the bonnet, so the belt fastener should be in good nick and just what you are after P100
