Top indicated speed on the speedo - 160mph, with the revs still climbing slowly. Unfortunately, didn't think to bring a GPS with me, to record the true max speed. But I think the speedo error on my car is not huge, it's 5mph at both 70 and 100mph (tested with a gps), so I don't think it increases with speed, so 160 indicated would've been around true 155. Which is also where the limiter supposed to kick in. I can't say I felt it, plus I had to slow down as well, but seem to recall reports in some magazines, or TV programmes that the limiter usually allows the car to go beyond 155mph before actually kicking in.

All this was part of an Advanced Driving course, with RideDrive, which consisted of 7 hours on the road driving, and an hour of handling skills at Bruntingthorpe.

A very good day, with the highlight obviously being the one hour at the track. smile

Ahhh, the monthly 'how fast have you gone' thread.... smile

155mph in an S-Type R. (NOT on the M1 at 2am though - that would be irresponsible and illegal).
I heard if you drop the Jag autobox into 4th you can bypass the 155mph limiter.. I don't suppose your off road experiences could confirm that could they? biggrin
Not sure - certainly plausible. I've heard many a report of 'limiters being lax'.

I can confirm that the limiter was conspicuous by its absence at 155mph....
Great car.

idea Got me thinking .... My STR has had the paramount treatment (chip remap, race cats, exhaust & s'charger pulley and supposedly had limiter removed) so might have to take it there to see what it can do !!

Took my 996TT there a few years ago and backed off at 185 ... but I did have the Mrs and 2 kids in the back at the time.
