Hi,

my dad drives a 52 plate 4.2XK8 - it's just had its 70k service and he was surprised it didn't get a timing belt change. I always assumed the 4.2NA had a timing chain, therefore no change required. I'm sure someone here will know for certain though!! Anyone??

Thanks,

James

Good stuff - that was always my assumption - but he asked it put doubt in my mind. No need to change it then. Thanks.

Chains, the 4.2s have the metal tensioners too smile No need for a change at 70K but it might be a good idea to consider a change at 100K as good preventative maintenance wink

Change what at 100k, the chains or the tensioners - or both?
