2010 XK Interior Question

I read the reviews and understand the differences in the 2010 compared to the 07-09 as far as exterior tweaks and engine changes. However, I see mention of "Better interior materials", etc. Just what interior improvements were made (aside from the shifting knob) for 2010 and are they that significant compared to 07-09?

The 07-09 had 2 standards of interior.

The 'regular' XK had leather seat facings, and the console etc. was covered in a kind of leatherette. Or you could spec the 'Luxury Sport' leather interior. These had a far better quality of soft leather covering all the bits that the regular leather interior had in faux leather. Looked far superior and more how a Jag should look, feel and smell. From 2010 all XK's have the 'luxury Sport' leather interior as standard. Also some of the plastics were changed, more wood/theme options appear now and if you opt for these, those parts that were plastic are now wood or aluminium etc. The head linings are now also leather or better fabrics. All in all Jag have got the car to how it should have appeared the first time around. Just as well, because as soon as the new XJ hits the streets the XK can't look like the cheaper cousin....

Sounds like the typical Jaguar approach to car new cars - launch them in a slightly dissapointing level of finish, bring in an upgraded model a couple of years later which kills the used values of the early models and sets a level which the later models will follow.

Always seems a bit daft to me. Why not do the job properly in the first place?

Yes, this is annoying, but it not just Jaguar, best to buy the run out models IMHO

I agree, I am confused. Now I am going to have to seek these out one at a time to see which I prefer (in case I decide to buy one).

Jimbeaux, the non lux leather XK's are not as nice IMHO.

Also with the lux sport interior you get the 16 way electric seats, with side bolster support. Easiest way to tell the difference is the lux sport seats are perforated.

The run out steel XK's were the XKR-S cars. Very n ice, but not as good as the new generation in the handling, enjoyment dept.

yes, for example my X308 is a 2002 car, pretty much everything was standard by then

I see; thanks. I notice most of the XKs near me (Paretti Jaguar/Rover - Baton Rouge) have the perforated seats. I assume that the seats can be had without the Lux interior, or is it an all or nothing package?
