Hi, there.

In an effort to remedy front tyre inner edge wear (tracking declared OK by main dealer) some months ago I replaced all the front suspension bushes, ball joints, stub axles and wheel bearings. Now some 8k miles later both lower ball joints are shagged. The (reputable) supplier was apologetic and is sending FOC replacements but said that they had no previous complaints.

Has anyone had a similar experience with replacement lower ball joints ? Incidently the same joint is used on XJS, XJ40 and X300. Probably X308 as well.

These joints are made by Lemforder, a branch of ZF, unless you have some cheap jack option they should be good for high mileages. The other point is if you have a set of Gary Boy wheels and tyres, which will of course reduce the life span of the upper and lower suspension components considerably.

Standard 17" alloys and 255's. Are there any idenitfying marks on the ZF ball joint ? There's only a 'B' stamped on the bottom of mine. They were £10+VAT each. Maybe too cheap ? I asked if they were OEM spec and was told that OEM is no longer available.
