v8 supercharge engine swap
Discussion
Hello, I am looking for some help and direction, I am currently working on a project car that is need of an engine, I am thinking the 4l supercharged v8 from an x308 on a manual gearbox ticks many boxes.
Now has/know anyone how has transplanted one of these before or can point me in the direction of a forum that may have.
Things that concern me are;
Will I be able to, if remapped use the cars standard ECU? I intend to remove the autobox and the cats, or will it spaz out and go into a failsafe limp home mode or will I have to but an aftermarket ECU?
Is the car transponder locked will I have to use the ignition barrel and other components from the jag, again is this another problem I can get around with an aftermarket ecu?
I don’t really want to go down the aftermarket Ecu route I am interested in this engine becuse it meets my power requirements in standard form I will fabricate a free flowing stainless steel exhaust and add a huge induction filter and have the engine mapped but more for the noise than the extra power.
If anyone can help I would be grateful

You will have a hard time re-using the exisitng ECU as half of it will be missing i.e. the gearbox and you will remain in limp mode for evermore.
I have used an Emerald for my XK with a dodge viper 6 speed manual. You will have to ditch the coil packs using this type of ECU unless you pay big money for a Motec. Whats good about the Emerald is it comes with 3 maps installed which you can switch through whilst on the go. e.g road, fast road, race.
The original Jag ECU is very restrictive I found it easier just to bin it, of course with the XK this did have a few other probs like having to re-do the instrument binacle but there are ways and means.
One other route if you was adamant you wanted to keep the pos jag ECU is give Elite a call and ask them to let you have one of there little black boxes to fool the ECU the gearbox it is still there!

Ok I have options that's great, the emerald looks good that seems to be alot of ecu for the money, in fact I may well give them an email, just out of curiosity when you ditch the coil packs what do you do for ignition? a wasted spark set up?.
not into an x-type nothing that civilized I am afraid I may put one in my track rat Nissan 200sx
