Just out of curiousity, were any of the X300/308s produced with manual gearboxes? Was looking at one today in the traffic (x308) and was thinking how good the sculptured bonnet looks, but I am not a fan of automatics. I know they are well suited for automatic transmissions, it's just that I like a manual shift myself. Was it the American market that led to Jaguar going down the automatic mainly route?

X300 you can get manuals, but they are very rare.
We had a few customers that had XJR manuals and they were mental, so much faster than the Auto. The manual box and proper LSD were much fun, many a sideways moment was had.
But sadly X308 is auto only.
But given Jaguar sold very few, they are very hard to find, and usually on poverty spec cars. The clutch is really heavy and the gear change pretty poor and agricultural.

The X308 was never designed to have a manual transmission.
To do the conversion is mechanically straightforward, you could use a manual pedal box from an X300, make an adaptor plate and use a Getrag 290 or potentially a Tremec T56. You would then use some X300 diff ratio to get the gearing you want, and possibly an LSD.
The hard part is getting the CAN system to work.

just a thought, my understanding was the ecu always wants to know what gear the car is in and when the gear is being changed so it ca ease off on the torque and the hard bit is getting the CAN to work without it, but the emerald ECU is designed to work with the CAN system and has the option to know when the clutch is down and what the gear is as it has a set up for flat shifting, hence could you plug the the emerald ECU into the CAN to give the engine the info it needs?

The 'Black Box' to fool the engine ECU is the time consuming part, as soon as I get the 'All Clear' that that works I'll be pushing ahead on the 'Bell Housing' castings.

I have a choice of three gearboxes that have the correct ratios that will take the power of the XKR even allowing for any increase that may have been applied. Im sure anyone wanting a manual would or will be looking for more horses.
I have also found two 'Road going' Clutches that will also take the power.
I'm hoping to be able to do a Kit for something like £5,000, £6,000 at the most
The third gearbox offered will be a Sequential but that would be something like an extra £10,000
Instilation costs by a good Independant should work out at about £1,000
The first few instilations will be installed by myself and Tom to check there are no Pitfulls
