Real world MPG XF diesel 3.0 S
Discussion
Sorry - but another "not an S" reply - but in the absence of any replies about the specific car I'll post anyway.
My father has done 3,500 miles from new in his 3.0D XF. The long term average on the trip computer is currently sitting at 37.5mpg - and he drives "swiftly" when the conditions and limits allow.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. Looks like a nice place.
First things first, I am sorry to say the 42MPG combined is a dirty great lie when it comes to the real world.
We had one as a courtesy car for a few days as our 2006 X-Type was in for some work. (Our dealer knows we're very close to caving and getting an XF SV8).
There are several MPG "Trips" for want of a better word. I reset one the moment I got in, and another was reset daily.
After 4 days of having it, I never saw above 34MPG on the daily trip, and we averaged 29.9MPG overall.
I'm saying all this like it's a bad thing, but, if I am being fair, it was by far and away the fastest and best Diesel car I've ever been in. Surely 30MPG for 0-60 in 5.9 Seconds is worth it? And if your not satisfied by that, "Spires Jaguar" do a 305BHP and 700NM ECU upgrade, which increases MPG by 4%. I bet that really hauls.
Hope this answer's your question.
Regards,
Jack
