Main dealer are quite keen to get my into a new my10 xkr and are pulling together the numbers. What should I be expecting to get as a px for my current 57plate xkr with 40k on the clock, it is in very good condition with normal extras. In addition it has also been remapped and has an upgraded supercharger pulley. If I sold it privately what would that be worth and is there a market for them at the moment.
Thanks Ricky

My recent research suggests asking prices of around:

£38k - Jag main dealer
£36k - Other trade
£34k - Private

I doubt a Jag main dealer would offer more than £30-32k in part-ex since it costs them to prep the car and add a 12-month Jag warranty - although at 40k miles it's more likely they would sell it on within the trade.

Not many come up as private sales but if you can offer it with some months of the warranty to run, I would definitely try that route.

Jad dealers price

57 plate with 20k miles £38k.07 plate with 5k miles for £38k

I guess with 40k its around £35-36k retail.

What you get offered will be dependent upon profit in new car....

Doesn't matter what they offer you, but I also would say on it's own mid to low £30's, it is the cost to change that's the number to work on. Will it be a brand new XKR or lightly used?

A new 5.0ltr XKR I would pay no more than low £60k's, used are now showing low £50k's, so I would bet you'd be looking at £18k-£20k to change up.........

The new car is so much better than the 4.2.....

I agree.. It is all about the cost to change, hence the value question. Will it make much difference in £'s to get a bit more than what a dealer will offer by going private. Ultimately reducing the coc done a bit. I am not sure either way to be honest, it might be simpler and better just to wrap the deal up singularly with the dealer. We are talking about a new XKR conv..

New Conv woohoo

What I do is thrash out a deal with the dealer concerned, part-exing your XKR. Then once you have agreed the deal, say that you want to try and sell privately. This way you have a backstop. Dealers see your car as a lump of cash, whether it be aluminium or cash you pay in the end is irrelevant...

How long the wait for a factory build or have they one coming through already. Spec please, let us dream!

Not sure I would buy one new. My coupe was unmarked and good as new, ex-demo/sales manager's car, 4 months old and £16K off the invoice price. That's quite a lot of depreciation to swallow straight away, unless the discount is 5 figures. You don't get a choice of spec of course but every dealership is likely to have one, so a few to choose from.

Will MY11 be out around April time? Worth waiting to do a deal on a pre built MY10 car.

Convertible sounds nice - that may be my choice when I change unless Jag come up with something special like an XKR-S.

Good luck.

Also, bare in mind that there are few private punters out there with cash for a purchase - most will need to finance the car. This can be very challenging privately (and that is from recent experience selling a car at a third of the value of this one)...

The deal appears to be along the lines of....... Jaguar UK not selling sufficient new models since christmas and are putting a considerable amount into a new reg vehicle to entice customers to swap. So once the figures are finalised it may be the cost to change is very low and from my perspective disregards the px value as the monthlys remain the same and I end up in a new car! Lets wait and see....
