XJ 4.2 v8- filter/exhaust recommendations?

I've had my 4.2 v8 sport for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it- now that I have saved a few pennies and come to terms with the crippling trips to the petrol station, I'm thinking of enjoying a little more of the V8's performance- nothing too ott, just a little improvement in breathing - i'm thinking a decent panel filter and SS exhaust - does anyone have any recommendations?

The two filters I have come across are K+N and Green - I have used a green air induction kit in my earlier boy racer days - but does anyone have experience of the K+N with the 4.2 v8? Also is there any brand of Exhaust in particular that I should be looking at?

I would avoid 'performance' filters like the plague on an otherwise standard engine.

They make a lot of claims that are rarely substantiated.
