Had a 2 tear old XJ Sov diesel two weeks & had to be recovered last night not too happy at the minute fault came up as park/handbrake fault & locked the gear lever in park unable to move it anyone else had this problem is it a common fault

Seems its linked to excessive wheelspin in snowy conditions. There is a pic on that thread of how you can get it out of park.

Sounds like a network fault to me, Hard reset might fix it if its that. But could be as simple as a faulty brake pedal switch. Both the gear selctor interlock and the Electronic Park Brake need to see brake pedal signal.

If the battery voltage drops too low during cranking it'll bring up the p/brake and DSC fault,drive it for a while and restart it,that normally cures it!
