Help - Alarm problem - dealer only?
Discussion
I've an X300 with an intermittent problem with the alarm. My local garage cannot sort it because they say I need to get it 'plugged in' at the Jaguar dealer. However funds are tight and I've a feeling that it'll be expensive. Is there anywhere near Bath that can offer a similar service or is this a main dealer job only?
It appears to think a door is open, sometimes when the alarm is set, sometimes some while later. Currently the sound maker has been disconnected so I don't keep the locals awake and I can lock the car. Done the usual of checking the microswirches and spraying WD40 about the locks to no avail.
Cheers

That's the advantage of finding a good independant Jaguar specialist in ones area
I have used my local JS for some years now, hourly charge is less than half main dealer and will only charge for hours or part of work done.
Also if you are happy he will get a good second hand part if it will save you a lot of money
I see you are in the west but if J11 of the M4 is handy give him a call

My guess is one of the door micro switches, and while a log tome ago it was possible to see which switch was activating the alarm, using PDU/WDS...!! I am not sure whether this is still possible.
Does the ' door open ' light go out on the dash ?
Can you see with all the doors closed if any of the ' puddle lights ' are still on, as this will tell you which door the alarm thinks is still open.
Could be a bonnet switch as this doesn't display on the dash.
If the fault is when you are double locking, it could be the intrusion sensors as these are only activated on dead locking.
