2000 S Type 3.0??
Discussion
Ive had two - one auto and the other manual.
The Auto was brilliant and I would have another but the manual was awful.
Terrible clutch and gearbox - took it back to the dealers and their response was "thats how they are"!
I'd advise you to drive it and if you appear to be snatching the gears and not getting a smooth change dont convince yourself that you'll get used to it - you wont!

I had a 200 s type 3l auto.
Great car, but had alot of bother like most do with Drop links going, they normally lasted 12 months or so. About £120 to fix, had 4 lots in 2 years. 1 power stearing pump,£400 at the time. And one expansion tank, which is neither nothing nor something.
Great cars, let down by bad suspension parts. Great to drive, good on fuel, look great.
Even after all that I would still buy another!

Yeah these are lovely cars. I'd go for a 3.0se auto. Someone near me sold a Y plate for 2.5k, it was stunning with loads of history. He sold it as he was getting a company car (an XF). I'm hell bent on getting an X300, but if he would have told me about the S type i reckon i would have had it.
It seems the 2002 onwards are the better ones with revised suspension and superior interior. The SE has got it all. Memory seats and column, voice controls etc.

The auto is a ticking bomb. Get the manual, yes its a bit more agricultural than you might expect from a Jaguar, but saves the repair bill that will right off the car. And because they are deemed less desirable they are cheaper too.
as mensioned above, If you can strech to it 2002 on modles are better.
