Good Bank Holiday weekend to all,

I would like to purchase a 2002 X-Type 3.0V6 auto, but the owner has mentioned this fault:

''the dashboard the computer tells me there is a DSC System fault and sometimes but not always, shows 'gearbox fault' message comeup'' VERBATIM.

Is this common, what is the remedy and the likely cost?

Should this be taken to a main dealer, or know you of any Jaguar specialists in Berkshire and surrounding areas who have the means to assist?

Call a Jag Dealer this week and tell them what you have, see if easy remedi or not. Sounds like a sensor failure somewhere, prob by easy to rectify.

Always a Jag Specialist will be cheaper.....

I can not help with your specific problem, but I just wanted to say that you might want to consider a manual 3.0? No expensive gearbox problems, faster and better MPG!!!

Correct me if I am wrong (and I often am teacher) but the 3.0 V6 petrol is not available as a 6 speed manual? I would have a 6-speed, not a 5-speed manual.

They are manual as well, my 3.0 X-Type Sport was manual. Recommend it over the auto, but quite hard to find.
