2.5 X type engine management fault

Hi guys, I have a 2002 2.5 V6 sport x type. The other day I was out in it when a message "cruise control not available" came up on dash-there is no cruise control anyway! But followed by that was what I can describe as juddering from the engine. I pulled over and the engine management light had come on. Took it to a friend who plugged it into the computer and came up with no faults. Light went off and I set off. 30 miles later it did it again. Fault message came on and I was doing around 70 mph. Any ideas what it might be. Seems to occur when accelerating hard around 70mph. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Usually the cause of these two messages at the same time is a failed rear abs sensor ring. They are on the outer cv joints. The rings rust & break off. The outer joints with new rings are about £70 I think. Lots of info on here about this common fault
