A question to all XK/XKR owners.......
Discussion
Hello all, at the turn of the year i plan to trade in my cursed 987 Porsche Boxster S and buy a Jaguar XKR (the XK is alittle slow for my liking). The car will more than likely be a 07/57 plate as i will only have a budget of around 32k.
I'm just curious, is there anything i should bare in mind before going ahead with one of these cars? fuel consumption shouldn't be an issue as i've had a Porsche and a BMW M3 for my last 2 cars but what is reliability like? is the V8 bullet proof? what sort of things should i be looking out for when buying one? Also, chances are the car will have no Jaguar warranty at the time of purchase and with a car of this expense (originally 76k i think i read somewhere) i could really do without any large repair bills. Anyone know how much a fully comprehensive bumper to bumper warranty with Jaguar is and how good is there customer service when it comes to making a claim?
Any other tips or advice would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers

I think warrenty is about £1,500 pa although they do pay out quite well
To be honest I would find a good Independant Jaguar Specialist in your area
I see your West London, I know a very good one just down the M4 from you
The other thing is join the XK8R Club www.xkec.co.uk
They have very good members only forum, plent of advice there

I bought an 07 XK convertible in May and I love it to bits, done 2,500 miles since then, no problems to date.
It is now out of warranty, I was offered one from Stratstones Manch for about £900 if I took it to run straight on from factory warranty. I decided not to as, other than consumables which are not covered (pads, discs etc) I was not sure whether that was good value, its got to be something fairly major to make that worthwhile.
I am also a member of the XKEC and can fully recommend their forum.

Buy from a main dealer and you will get 12 mnths Jag warranty for peace of mind. Be wary of cheap XK's at independent garages. Word is a lot of XK's were flood damaged stock from Wales & now back on the road.
Car is lovely, don't buy anything registered before Nov '06 as it will be a press car/ pre-production.
Car is fine, go for one with the first tweak which loses the aerial. As I always say, get one with the lux sport leather interior.
Good luck, be patient.
