XF with 20" Wheels?
Discussion
Hi has anybody had experience with an XF that has 20" wheels? I would appreciate any comments on ride comfort, tramlining, cost of new tyres etc.
I'm looking at a used 3.0 diesel. The dealer has one in stock. I've not driven it yet. The spec meets my requirements in other areas but the 20" wheels are not something I would have asked for. I'm sure they will look stunning.
I presume the dealer would swap them for something smaller from another vehicle in stock if I just can't get on with them.
Thanks in advance for any advice and comments.

My father previously had a 59 plate XF 3.0D Luxury with 18" wheels. It has recently been replaced (due to some issues) with an XF 3.0D Premium Lux with 20" wheels. My father states that the ride is slightly compromised due to the lack of sidewall on the tyres.
I did ask him about tramlining etc but he has said he hasn't experienced any particular issues that he feels are related to the wheel sizes. Tyres are, obviously, more expensive, but then I seem to remember the 18's were nearly £200 each anyway.

Could you elaborate on the other issues your father has had with XF ownership?
Turbo failure (twice), ECU issues (several times going into Limp Home mode - including my parents having to be carried home via Jaguar Assist on a lorry from Somerset), battery spontaneously flattening itself while the car was in the garage (three times). After all this work it also developed a hesitancy on acceleration, and at 11 months old had spent the best part of 8 weeks in various Jaguar dealerships service departments. Jaguar eventually agreed to accept the vehicle back and provide my father with a replacement. The dealership and Jaguar UK were very helpful and supportive throughout but held back with a lack of parts (batteries, turbos) at times.
Had an XF DS whilst my S was in at the beginning of the year. That was on 20" wheels & was pleasantly surprised at the ride, seemed fine to me, no tramlining & minimal bump thump.
Jaguar seem to do the ride bit on low profiles much better than the Germans, probably because the german roads are generally smoother. My S-Type sport is on 18" & although a poor ride compared to my previous SE it rides vastly better than mates with 5 series or A6 even when they are on a relative comfort package.
