I don't follow that. It seems to say the factory is staying open because the staff are getting a 5% pay rise.

Isn't the viability of a factory dependent on orders?

Of course, but also costs. Things seem to be heading somewhere at JLR, shame the recession is putting a dampner on Jags new cars.

Very poorly written article. It neglects to state that worldwide sales are up about 15% on this time last year. Some spectacular rises recorded in China with forecasts predicting that this will continue.
