After 90,000 nearly trouble free miles over 3 years my 56 plate 2.7 se TD Auto is being p/xd. I will really miss the old girl and would thoroughly recommend the S Type to anyone looking for a comfortable, relatively economical, well built reliable car capable of long distances with little effort.

I bought it on a whim and it has more than matched my expectations.

Have I bought anther Jag? I'm afraid not. I would really love to continue with Jag ownership but I live in a rural area and really need to get back to a 4wd estate. Especially if we are in for another relatively harsh winter.

The purpose of the posting? To publicly express my appreciation for my Jag as she and I sadly part company.bow

X-Type 4x4 Estate no good?

Perhaps Jaguar will launch a big truck like the other biggies have. Though personally I hope not.

90k miles is good going, my 55 plate S type 2.7d Sport has only done 18k and couldn`t to sell it yet because its going better now than it did new.
They are very underrated cars by many except those who have had one.

Slightly off topic. My S-Type 4.2.V8 SE that I've had since it had 14 miles on the clock is close on 6 years old now, just past 96,000 miles, plan to keep it for the forseeable future. I think I've been getting around 24 mpg overall.

Just over 38mpg since MOT a couple of months ago (includes 70 miles of mixed daily motorway and main road cummuting). I did once acheive 50mpg on a 350 mile run to scotland (but had to stay very legal)

If Jag could have supplied: 4x4, Diesel, Estate, New or with less than 10K on the clock I would have been happy. Jag does not have to produce a Chelsea tractor to keep me happy. My replacement workhorse is a Subaru Legacy.

My 05 2.7D clicked over 90k yesterday.

Been trouble free except for both turbo's going 6 months ago which were repaired under an AA waranty.

Plan on keeping it at least another 12 months (to approx 120k). As the turbo's have been replaced, anything else that statistically can be a big expence due to high milage in this time?

Suspension parts, if my experience is anything to go by.

Rear susspension arms already done, from memory wasn't a cheap job, so at least another thing off the 'what can go wrong' list!

If I remember correctly the 2.7 TD has chains rather than belts driving the cams. Don't they have to be replaced before 120K with lots of £s involved?
