Hi,

My dad has just sold me his 2003 XJ 3.0 SE in Sea Frost. Really like the car but im hoping to make it look better by upgrading the wheels, but I want to put wheels on it that could have been an option when it was new.

Really like the Polaris wheels fitted to newer models too and I wondered if anyone had any ideas where I could look - or if any of you have maybe upgraded to 20" wheels and have some for sale id love to take a look.

Any ideas would be appreciated guys???

I wouldn't just jump into 20" wheels if I were you. They will imho give you a rougher ride without improving roadholding significantly. You should look at the ten spoke alloys, 18 or 19",which were standard on the X350 XJR. They look good and work well, and I bet the tyres are cheaper too. Then go for a mesh grille.

That were mine.

That looks really good. Im not really looking for bigger wheels just something smarter, and I thought id go for the mesh grill but looking to do the wheels first.

Really like the look of your car. Its a beauty.

It was, in every respect. Unfortunately I got credit crunched and had to sell it. cry Never mind, one day.....

I think they are 19" XJR 'Performance' alloys, and are available from SB Wheels. On the 20's, the 'Callisto' or the 'Sepang' which you have probably also seen look good, but be warned about the ride quality!

Yep, great looking car...I bet you were gutted, but needs must I guess. I have the mesh grille, but still with the same alloys that it had from new.
I've been told the 'Dynamic' alloys are good (19" i think) but can't seem to source them anywhere at a sensible price!

I'll post a pic on this thread tomorrow and any ideas you have to improve the look of the car would be massively appreciated.

I have seen a set of 20" Callisto alloys for sale but im not sure they wouldnt be taking it too far really.

Hi everyone,

I have tracked down a set of 20" callisto's that I think will look great. Im hoping the ride quality will be ok, but ive had a couple of BMW M Sport models and dont suppose it can be as hard as they were on bumps!

I'll get a pic up once they are fitted.

Thanks for all your advice and comments.

I admit they do look good - are they X358 Callistos (with growler badge and painted) or Concept Callistos (with Jaguar hexagonal badge and polished ali) ? If the latter make sure you keep them polished.

It's got to be the R 19s (x350) as above, or 19 inch customs OOOR 18 inch dynamics!

That's the only 3 you need to know wink

If they are the 'polished look' dont over polish them, if you go through that lacquer, they will be FUBAR. Just real gentle cleaning, keeping the brake dust at bay. If the lacquer goes, they will be covered in oxidisation marks before you know it.

Hi Guys,

http://thumbsnap.com/t/8XdNdWiy.jpg

Have a look at this link. I havent actually seen the wheels yet, pick them up on Saturday. They look quite a shiny finish to me.

+1. There is nothing wrong with them, they are beautiful looking wheels. Maybe it's my eyes at my advancing age but I can't tell which they are from that image. All I am saying is keep them clean and I would have a bit of polish on them, as I have seen a few 'Portfolio' XJR's where the owner hasn't really bothered. As stated, if corrosion gets through the lacquer you are stuffed.

They are 20".

They have made the harder a bit harder but its still silky smooth.

I think they look great but have a bit of a wobble on the steering now after having the tracking and balancing done. Nothing too bad tho.
