My XJR diff has suddenly seized, the car is completely undriveable. Any pointers as to where I can get mine refurbished or a good second hand replacement? As I understand it, it has a limited slip diff so a standard XJ8 diff won't fit? Is that right? Thanks

I am led to believe that the XJ8 diff has a different ratio, at least I think the 3.2 does, not sure about the 4.0 XJ8, the XJR is apparently 3.06. Thanks!

Sorry John, I have edited my post to give the correct info. My car is an XJR and I am now wondering if an XJ8 4.0 diff would be suitable. I am now led to believe that the diff is NOT LSD so would be standard as in the XJ8. Any clarification on this would be great!

I will give Arun or Harwoods a call tomorrow. Thanks guys!

I wonder whether NormanD would have any since he's into swapping them out for Quaife units.

It's only the Panet gears that get changed, Crown wheel etc and casing are reused

I got a recon XJR6 diff from Benn Grainger at Erojag http://www.eurojag.com/ for £335+vat in 2004. Just over a year later and 3,000 miles on the diff, my independent mechanic reported that there was something loose on it and Eurojag picked up and repaired the diff under their one year warranty. Can not fault the service from them!

XJ8 and XJR diffs are identical.

You can also fit a pre-98 diff w/ LSD if you can find a 3.06:1 crown wheel & pinion. You will need the matching A frame and front pressing.

I just spoke to a dealer and got the part numbers, the diffs for the XJR and XJ8 have different part numbers. The XJR is JLM20494E and XJ8 is JLM20769E. I'm therefore unsure as to whether they are identical and hence if an XJ8 would fit an XJR. Confused.com!
