'Complimentary software upgrade'

What did the dealer say ?
Main bit is:'Much like your computer at home the software on the computers in your Jaguar need to be kept up to date. These updates ensure that your Jaguar is running at its most efficient and to it maximum potential'.
And then the bit about a free 24-point check and a nice 0844 number to call.
I did wonder if it was a euphemism for 'recall'. I plan to ring them and find out exactly what upgrade they have to offer for a 2006 S-Type.

I would suggest the first rule of computing is: If it ain't broke don't fix it. But it doesn't hurt to ask what they claim it will fix...

Worth having done. The upgrades fall into several categories, increasing in severity; upgrade only if customer complains, upgrade next time the car is in for scheduled maintenance, contact the customer and ask them to come in for the upgrade right up to a full blown safety related "recall".
In this case it may be a "upgrade only if customer complains" type of item, that your local dealer is using to entice you in to the dealership.
