After some advice on where to sell a 1994 Jaguar XJR 4.0 auto at?

If you check my profile I work in the motor trade and have a very elderly gentleman who does not know how to use the internet has asked me to sell his 1994 XJR. Just curious on wheres best to advertise as I cant find any for sale on here or on autotrader!

Cheers

Was thinking here would be the best but as say couldnt find any at all so was curious if another Jaguar forum had the majority of them for sale on it or its a case of theres none about!!

He has given me as many details as he can on it however my knowledge of these cars is very very limited, as much as im a petrol head these are a bit before my time!!

Any idea of how much to put it up for, its a 1994, 140k on the clock, non supercharged but very tidy?

When you say theres not a place for it on here - theres a seperate section just for XJRs ?

Or do you just mean that there are no 1994 ones in there ?

Yes spotted the XJR section but they are all 1996 onwards shape ones apart from a 89 TWR special so was just wondering if they resided somewhere else on the net!

A 1994 XJR will be an XJ40. They're less common than the later supercharged variants and tend to be less loved, hence many will now be in the great carpark in the sky. However, a really good one will be sought after by some people.

On the net, PH is as good as anywhere to advertise it. In print, you could try the Jaguar Ethusiast Club (JEC) magazine - their website is a bit cra though.

O.k thanks for the pointer, was wondering why everything I looked at came up supercharged! Clears that one up.

It is a nice example all round and has been well maintained, the guy has spent quite a bit on it recently, new AC condensor, rebuilt the diff, new dampers etc etc.

Thanks for the help.

PH advertising is also free for private sales so you may as well try it; you have nothing to lose!

The other obvious place is AutoTrader. I'd avoid eBay for now because people only want 'bargins' and the proportion of timewasters is high. That said, I sold my last S-Type there in 24 hours for the full Buy-It-Now price I'd set just as a target for bidders!

You can have a X300 in 1994 too, mine is a November 1994 registered car, which is when they were launched. The XJR was available from day 1.

Ah. I thought they were 1995 as i've seen a few 1995 registered XJ40 V12's.

Must have been old stock. My X300 was first registered on the 21st of November 94, I think they'd been available since the start of the month and the whole range was then available.
