Hi,

Does anyone know if the optional 'chrome' wing vents can be retro-fitted easily or if its a dealer job? I'm hopefully picking up a year old 'S' in ultimate black later this week I'd like to add the chrome vents if its not too costly.

Cheers

Sounds a bit brutal but just pull the old ones off they will snap and break
Then just push the new ones on.
Job done.

A 5 year old XF...interesting, as they've been around for only 4 years!

I can't see any mention of a five year old jag in my post? It's a one year old premium S on a '59.

It does sound a bit brutal to pull the old ones off and break them but I'm quite good at breaking stuff so I might cope with the job after all !

You can get the covers, they are sold a lot on Ebay for about £40 and simply stick over the top of the originals.

I haven't seen them in the flesh but have been told they are pretty good.

They are easy to remove but you need to be a bit brutal smile You will break the lugs on the old set but then the new ones simply clip on.

Otherwise just ask someone to put them on for you when it next goes in for a service or for the K061 customer action http://www.xfforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&...

Thanks for the replies, after showing pictures of the chrome vents on black cars to the boss, I've been overuled on grounds of taste... still after getting my revised insurance quote today I may need to save the money!

After some consideration I decided to buy and fit the vents and I'm really pleased with the result.

Our local Jaguar dealer has been excellent with this car ( two warranty issues so far... ) and my previous S-type, but they seemed determined to discourage anyone attempting self fit of these parts. Price on ebay new from a Jaguar dealer £135, price from my dealer (fitted) £264, time taken by me to remove old ones and fit 10 mins. This would mean paying an hourly rate of £774 to obtain the skills needed to pull and clip plastic.
