XJ flat battery
Discussion
My XJR hasn't moved for a few weeks, and when I went outside to start her, she's dead.
Battery is pancake flat. My handbook is in the glovebox, which won't open, and the battery is in the boot, which wont open. I opened the door manually.
I have a jump starter here, but no way of connecting it that I know of. Is there another way to open the boot? Or an alternate jumping point?
Cheers for any help, I dislike being defeated by simple tasks. A jump start, for goodness sake!

two possibilities that come to mind.
1: your boot lock is gummed up from lack of use, and could possibly be made to work with some wd40.
2: you have to use the battery charging point in the engine bay to recharge the abttery in the boot. I understand it is a positive terminal, covered by a rubber cap.
HTH.

Cheers folks, got in, got the jump start on, and it fired.
Took it for a nice run to get some charge back into the battery. Cruise control wasn't working until after the fuel stop (New record, over £100! Ouch!) but lovely to drive after a few weeks in the Subaru.
They have hidden that keyhole, haven't they?

Oh I don't know, it's visible, but discounted as just being a hole. When I first got mine, it took me ages to work out that the growler on the boot was also the button to open it.
My excuse is that I'm too used to buttons hidden underneath the handle, and didn't look at the obvious.ARAF said:

I know what you mean about the growler though. I find myself using the fob normally.
Hope you got this sorted.
The battery went flat in my XJ Sport through lack of use.
I got one of these battery chargers from Machine Mart which did the trick. 8 hours on charge and the car was perfect again.
The boot hole can get stiff but if you have some charge left you can open the driver's door with the key and try the boot open button on the dashboard or on the boot itself.
