Has anyone else seen the 50,000 pound, never registered 1989 V12 XJS black convertible with 73 miles on E-Bay?

Is this the lowest mileage XJS known? Someone must have been taking a punt on XJS values back then!

Would anyone be tempted?

This should be the link

Saw that ad about a year ago. Maybe not in PH but I have seen it.

I just had another look at the ad. Tow rope under the car. Maybe doesn't want to start it...or can't. Has it ever has anti-freeze replaced? Can't imagine the rubber hoses etc will still be pristine. I'm being a bit pessimistic perhaps but isn't a car meant to be driven? Otherwise, just a big, expensive ornament.

Looks very nice but as soon as you put miles on it value would plummet so what is the point if you cannot drive it

been around for ages
not sure it's worth that tbh
a serious XJS fan with a lot of money could buy it to use as their car
looks like there's not much demand for a £50,000 XJS.....not surprised
think they're beautiful, but wouldn't pay that for one

It's still a 21 year old car, and unless the maintenance has been immaculate and it has been rustproofed and kept in dry well ventilated conditions, it could very easily be a total restoration case. If you want a 'new' XJS, speak to KWE.

That was my thought as well. There are some very nice
re-import XJS Convertibles around brought back from Japan and some
dry state US cars ( although the US cars are invariably LHD ).

Most seem to be around the £12k - £18/19 k absolute top region, and
that's for very nice cars. That would make a £50k investment in this
particular car a huge leap of faith.

I wouldn't be that worried about the maintenance issues raised, I
think the car will have been very well cared for. But register it, tax
it, and put even 5k miles on it... dry weather only, no accidents, and what's it
worth then ?

Just another used XJS convertible at that point. Albeit an extremely nice one.
This car would be better off in a museum, imo.

You may not be able to register it, due to current emissions regs for 'new' cars.

There are a few XJs's with "hopeful" price tags on them.Like most every day Classic cars Values have plummited (other than the one's with Rarity value)a good V12 convertible may have cost you upwards of £12k a couple of years ago but now £7or £8k is all you would get.
It would be nice to see it but i think you would need to know how it has been stored for all these years.
Hasn't it been on Ebay for over 12 months on and off?

it's been on for a hell of a time
I imagine there's not a huge market for £50,000 XJS's
I mean, it would've cost around that in 1989 :P
I imagine either people can't pay even near, or the owner is convinced someone will pay that....

Exactly what I was thinking. For some reason the front of the car looks more used than the rest. Funny it has an RAC badge on it already...

Maybe I'm wrong. I always thought they were and I don't know the true definition to be fair but many sites inc wikipedia
Refer to them as flying

A flying buttress has a gap between itself and the structre it's supporting.

Interesting how, with the buttress removed, the rear looks more like an XJ6.
