Has anyone any experience in upgrading the dipped lights on an s-type with the after market HID kits available.

Plenty on e-bay

If so can anyone recommend a kit and what K rating to go for or better still pop a link on please if you have fitted a kit and would recommend it

Any help would be most appreciated thumbup

I've up-graded mine on an X350, with no problems at all. I used 10k

Hope that's of some help.

Mine has the xenon option - can that be retrofitted or are they a silly price?

I upgraded my XKR (H1) and my Cougar (H7)

Here's a tip, when you do a search on Ebay do not mention 'Jaguar', it will add £30 to the price, just list whatever type bulb it is.

I only paid £22 delievered from China for mine, still comes with warranty, just no fancy box, OK it took 3 weeks to get to me but I was in no rush, and for that money if it goes wrong..... so what

They have been on the cougar now for over a month and work a treat, personally I would not go over 6K, anything more and they start to look blue, the MOT man wont like it and you will look like a chav... No offense Sparky just my opinion wink

They are over £700 each from Jaguar or around £250 on Ebay, different plug and a PITA to retro fit

Mine has HIDs they were specced from new, personally having had S-types with & without I wouldn't bother!

my 'S' does not have them, the lights are good as they are.

Previous cars I have had have hed them and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooh so expensive when they stop working

if you having night vision issues I suggest ensuring you have the correct bulbs fitted and get them professional aligned

if its still an issue try specsavers

That's the problem with the XK's

Only dip has HID's if fitted, go to main beam and a job to spot the differance

Thank's for the info Tony, I'll upgrade the main beams now

Thanks for all the info fellas thumbup

I have not really thought there was a problem with the lights it's just that having upgraded all the lights to HID on my Griff i just thought it was a natural progression with the Jag so no need for Spec savers lol

Anyway I will go for H7 8000 as i like a bit of Blue hehe

Just an update, I took XKRacers advice and have a set coming from China for verry little money

I did find out that one shouldn't HID's to the main beams so have ordered the H7's in 6000k so the mod will not be obviouse to the BiB and the MOT
