Silver slats on wings

Hi

I am thinking of getting a XJ diesal, why do some have silver slats on the wings and others dont? Is it a spec thing or a model year?

The aluminium gills are found on the limited edition XKR Portfolio, it signalled a facelift which the rest of the range carried, mainly in body colour, but certain high spec models carry them.
