Jaguar XJ 3.2 MY97 (x300) starting issue ?
Discussion
Hello,
i currently have a issue starting my Jag. The issue is as follows. Approach the car. Unlock car using remote fob. Place key in ignition. Turn to starting postion. The car then proceeds to crank over but refuses to start. After investigation and a long time fault finding I have discovered that there is no spark and it seems to be related to the cars electronic systems. After further fault finding I have discovered that if I lock the car using the key fob. Unlock the car using the key in the drivers door thus setting the alarm of in its 1st stage. Quickly place the key in the ignition turn the key the alarm stops. Turn it again immediately and the car will start. This leads me to believe that there is a issue with the alarm/immobiliser system. Is anyone aware of a way to bypass or fix this fault?
Regards

How is the battery?
My 3.2 manual would act oddly when the battery started to drain. I got a charger from Machine Mart for £20 or so and that did the trick.
Wot 'e said, but more likley be a problem with the immobiliser correctly reading the key. You could try taking off the shrouds round the steering column and disconnecting and re connecting connectors round the ignition barrel. These can fail or play up if they get damp. Try a different key too but could be a job for an auto electrician.. My 3.2 manual would act oddly when the battery started to drain.
