Looking at buying a second hand Jag XJ 2.7Tdi - older style

Some good bargains for about £10k - with quite a few miles mind - what should I be looking out for? Are they reliable? Would you recommend?

Thanks

Great car. Better people on her to give you the mechanics, but corrosion seems to be an issue so sheck thoroughly. (Evidently something to do with steel clips used in the painting process).

Triple7,

Thanks for the info. I'd have thought with the bodywork aluminium - corrosion was the last thing to happen, I'll do some research.

Nice handle name! :-)

It's more of a reaction with the steel. I've read about corrosion on the rear pillars where there is a weld and at the bottom of the doors, a lot were sorted under warranty, but i would still give it a thorough inspection and check the service history too see if any work was done. It's not just a Jag problem, Range rovers, Porsches etc suffered also.
