audi multitronic
Discussion
hello Guys, here I am, the one who bought one of your problematic multitronic Audi`s on Auction. A6 53 plate 1.9 tdi 140k So after danger experience, when car lost power in fast line on motorway... well manage to get home. Problem with this car is..everything fine when is cold, transmission works without any strange noise. Once it gets warm up, the PRNDS starts flash and after some time transmission stops to work. Got to garage and got these faulty codes - 17106 - transmission output speed sensor G195 no signal
18226 - pressure control valve 2 N216
17090 - transmission range sensor S125 impossible signal
18201 - transmission output speed sensor 2
18165 - supply voltage open circle intermittent
Any suggestions? I know many of you had a very similar problems...I would like to fit it for reasonable amount of money, luckily I got this car on auction guite cheap...but I dont think enough

When you get multiple codes on these it is usually the ECU which is packing up. It starts losing various signals and defaults into limp mode.
IIRC Audi charge about £1000 plus fitting for a replacement but they are usually repairable (try www.bba-reman.com - they repair them). You'd need to remove the unit which involves draining the gearbox of fluid.
It could be the actual gearbox in which case you are looking at a very expensive fix and I'd cut your losses and put it back through the auctions.

Well I got so far, that ECU has been already sent down to BBA experts, they made a call yesterday they did not test it. Haven`t said any more, hard to say, what they have done. I will maybe try to find somebody else try to fix it. How much are the new ECU?
About sticking back to auction, it sounds like plan B...

not sure, why they are sending ecu back without saying exactly what`s wrong, It could happend that ecu does not communicate with software they use..only guessing.... well still playing with idea of buying new ecu and selling car privately. Should be able to get money back. If I only know this multitronic blues before...

so are all ECU repairable? If not how much is new one? And one more thing, is sounds all about ECU, but what if something else is wrong - hydraulic control unit {valve body}?? etc.
I haven't had one that isn't yet. £800 for a new one.At 140,000 everything is worn. It's about keeping the car going at that mileage.
Fix the ECU and move on to the next thing.
A car of that age will only keep requiring maintainence. You either do that ,or get a car with low mileage so the maintainence isn't as high, but the cost to buy is high.
Whatever you choose it will cost. That is what cars are....
140 000 miles and everything is worn? Well maybe in Peugeot 307, but not in A6, surely not with 1.9 tdi. I have got another one, which is old T - reg 1999 1.9 tdi 110 bhp manual luckily and I am about to hit 200k any day now and car even with this sort of mileage does not require any extra maintenance. It`s a waste of money to be after for some low mileage example because they go for unreal money and they still go wrong...
Well I guess, I will put this gearbox together and keep my old trouble free T reg...

The minute you start the car up from new it's starting to wear. There's a difference between wear and worn out.Well I guess, I will put this gearbox together and keep my old trouble free T reg...
A car with 200,000 should require extra maintainence according to the handbook. It depends wether you're willing to spend the money to do it,or as it seems in your case not.
