Rat look or Rat style
Discussion
The problem with the rat look is that you're purposely trying to make a car look rubbish which is odd. My car looks a bit dodgy because I don't bother worrying about the bodywork (it had mild accident damage when I bought it). And earlier this year, some f
ker used it to judge their parking and the damage is now rusting.

I thought this was something all that the "dub" kids do to old Volkswagens. I sincerely hope it is not spreading to Japanese cars, it's pretty tragic.
If you look on google on the first page of rat look on the images or rat rod or even rat style i cannot remember but anyway there is a RX7 all rust effect and it has been stickerbombed, also they are a huge hit in the ''Fast car, Max Power and Banzai'' magazines. And im sorry to say its spreading all over the world even to jap motors.RemainAllHoof said:

Which car do you have? I'm just wondering.

Perhaps that is why few people on this forum read "Fast Car, Max Power and Banzai" magazine. Haven't the former two gone out of business?I would hope that common sense would prevail, but there are more tasteless mongs in the world than there are sensible people I'm afraid, hence the current trend for taking nice cars and marring them in the name of "drifting". This "rat look" thing the kids are into seems to go with other ridiculous modifications like excessively cambered wheels, stretched tyres and collapsed-look suspension. I don't care what those kids do to a load of crappy old VWs - I do enjoy a good laugh as I pass the local McDonalds in the evening, but any Japanese performance car lost to "Rat look" dub kids is a sorry loss indeed.

I can see where you are coming from but im NOT talking about high preformance 500bhp drifty truenos nor a 750bhp scooby wrx sti, i'm just with the crappy cars i laugh at chavvy cars when i go past McDonalds and the petrol station but there is a thing in rat mods i really love it's just that if you buy a reliant robin and you are waiting at the lights and a yobbo teenager in his stupid punto comes next to you, you can easily mod the reliant so it looks crap on the outside but fast as under the bonnet that is what i love about rat mods you can buy a crappy ebay find car or even a £50.00 dump find and not bother doing the outside and just do the engine tweeks and then you can show the lil punks what is really under your bonnet...But i can see where you are coming from and i do really understand there is too many wayyyy OTT cars and i dont like them i just like the rat mods which havent been too heavily set out to look crap as on the outside. On a lighter note there are tons of tasteless muppets as you said! :PI would hope that common sense would prevail, but there are more tasteless mongs in the world than there are sensible people I'm afraid, hence the current trend for taking nice cars and marring them in the name of "drifting". What? I didn't mean me. I mean the car. You know what it is, though, it's about just using it and not giving a s
t about it. Try it. Just don't bother cleaning your car (but of course service it regularly) and see how it goes if you like that style. You might also be interested in googling the term "wabi sabi".
