Browsing (as is usual for a Sunday eve) and came across an immaculate 2007 RS4 for sale. I've spoken to the chap and arranged a viewing this week.

I've been in the market for a new car for a while now and this the first car I've looked at and felt the 'got to have it' factor.

Anything in particular to look for on these? Will be used for.short commutes and some motorway journeys. Are they horrendous fuel-wise?

The two types of journey I wouldn't choose an RS4 for.

Post the same question in the Audi section as you will get clearer answers. I remember there being a load of issues with the suspension on RS6's a while back now but not sure if this applied to RS4's as well. Quite a few owners getting LARGE bills for repair replacement for cars out of official Audi warranty cover.

It'll do both and is surprisingly good on fuel if you behave on a run (upper 20s achievable).

Hold in mind that the engine is at its best when driven hard, regularly. It is a car that really, really, really needs an Italian tune up!

There are loads of RS4 threads on here if you want specific info on what goes wrong.

I use mine for a 20'ish mile commute each way, mixture of A/B road usually with heavy traffic for last few miles of journey. I get around 280 miles from a 63 litre tank consistently.

IMO a great car, fast (although not as quick as 414bhp suggests), comfortable, loads of extras as standard. Had two Porsche 996's before this - I like driving this just as much.

Look at rs246.com for common problems, loads of info on there.

Not the best round town and rather hit a B road than a motorway. I loved mine, covered 20,000 miles in 10 motnhs and common sense forced me to change my daily runner to a diesel. One of those cars I wish I'd never sold.

They are great cars i love mine had it nearly 2 years.
Brakes can be a bit pricey to replace.
The engine needs a good work out to keep it at its best.
I have just put mine up for sale recently.

I've had mine for 2 1/2 years now, possibly the longest i've kept a car, it's a fantastic all-rounder, if not a bit pricey on consumables. Will be a sad day when i do move on.
