Hi all,
Currently running a B7 RS4..about to make way for a C6 RS6...
Anyone on here running one?
Intretsed to hear "real life" stories. Frequent RS246 all the time so have read up a bit on them.
Aint looking for running costs comments im well aware of what im getting in to..
Just day to day running issues?
How you find the bulk of the thing?
Whats it like in traffic?
Whats it like on the open road?
Any warranty isses or recalls that i should look for? (coilpacks etc etc)
Do they suffer "power" issues like the B7 RS4?
Is the auto box DSG or something else? (slushtronic)
Any niggly things that annoy?
Feeel as if i need the last of the powerfull V10 beasts before we are taxed of the roads completly!! I wanna go out with a bang and a massisve carbon footprint..
Any comments negative or positive welcome guys!!!
Cheers
Chris.

Just day to day running issues?
- None
How you find the bulk of the thing?
- On motorways the bulk is brilliant as it's stable and unmoved by crosswinds; hurling it down winding lanes takes a bit of planning but it still hangs on well. The brakes are fine with the mass, but still take a little longer to bring it down from the mighty speeds you are likely to be travelling at.
Whats it like in traffic?
- docile and a very comfortable place to be
Whats it like on the open road?
- With the suspension set to Comfort and gearbox in D it's nice and wafty (Dr Jekyll), or stick it into Sport and S using the paddles for the full Mr Hyde treatment and the thunderclap on full throttle gearchanges. It's very controllable when sliding.
Any warranty isses or recalls that i should look for? (coilpacks etc etc)
- Headlights fogged up on some early models but it was rare and those were fixed. A few issues with those that had carbon brakes, again rectified under warranty. There are no common problems. I've just extended my Audi warranty, and it was under £1k, which reflects how well screwed together this model is.
Do they suffer "power" issues like the B7 RS4?
- No. Mine is a 2008 model and now has 47,000 miles on it. I had it rolling roaded last week, and it gave 579.9bhp.
Is the auto box DSG or something else? (slushtronic)
- Full automatic with locking gears, i.e. tiptronic with paddles. It is designed to take 1000nm of torque, unlike the chocolate teapot C5 version. Some have upgraded theirs to 700bhp (for a measly £850) with no issues.
Any niggly things that annoy?
- None.
Its achilles heel as an "allrounder" is its refinement. Some people don't like the slightly less involving nature of it compared to an M5. But in the real world the comfort and sure-footedness far outweigh that slight difference, and in any case it's likely that you'll have something else more involving to drive parked in your garage for proper seat-of-the-pants motoring.

Great stuff thanks..
Can i ask about the warranty..is it an Audi one? if so how much and how long for?
Must admit..everything (apart from running costs) sounds good...positive comments of every forum ive been on...and they really do seem bulletproof!!!!
Not bothered about ceramics..although would be nice..
Im getting tired of my RS4 and its getting old now...few things starting to give up..awesome car though..
Really fancy a V10 twin turbo Lambo engined monster!! theyl never make anything like it again!!! trust me!!
Should find out tommorrow if the deal is on...fingers crossed...what better time to get one when petrol prices are going through roof!!! lol..
If any one has a PDF brouchure of a 2008 could they send to me???
Cheers

Yes, it's an Audi one, about £960 for a year, limited to 14k miles and unlimited on components (there is a cheaper option for named components, and more expensive for unlimited miles).2009 cars onwards had the 3G navigation, and some people prefer keyless go and sunroof. I'm not bothered by any of that, but if it's important to you then make sure you get a model with them fitted. Mine's got soft-close doors which are a bit weird - it's not as if I can't close my own door!
If you don't worry about depreciation or fuel, you should be just fine; it's a real masterpiece of engineering and great for embarrassing Gallardos when you're fully loaded up on the way to the recycling centre.
Hi guys..
Well i finally pulled the trigger!!
Had it a week now...
All i can say is...f
k ME!!!
This thing is on another level speed wise!!!!!
Hate to think what a simple map can do to this thing? It would slaughter anything else out there...its not far off now!!standard.
DRC Settings are great can adjust suspension to suit your driving style.
Gearbox is great..very smooth..in full auto..or flappy paddle.
Awesome "boom" on upshifts from exhaust.
Not as noisy as the RS4 exhaust..but a nice V10 rumble.
Car does sometimes feel heavy as it is..but the power makes up for it!!
Still finding all kinds of gadgets and the MMI is great..so good ive nearly rear ended a few people fannying around with it,,,Must stop.
Only downside is Jesssuusss..ive never had a car as thirsty as this,,although im not complaining i was expecting it..but not as bad as it is though!!!
7 to 12mpg around town.
21-23mpg..on a run..motorway etc.
2008 AVANT
SEPANG BLUE
POWER STEERING COLUMN
POWER CLOSE DOORS
DIGITAL TV/DAB RADIO
SUNBLINDS
AUDI PARK ADVANCED REAR VIEW CAMERA
FASH 4 SERVICES
MEMORY SEATS DRIVER AND PASSENGER
MILLTEK QUAD PIPES
Looks awesome..so much better in the flesh than photos...real road presence and not as big as i thought.
Any one thinking of getting one..drop me a line and i will help if i can.
Cheers

Have a look on RS246..C6 RS6 FORUM?
Honestly they are very reliable....for the type of engine they have very complexed and a lot crammed into a small space...with none of the issues that plauged the C5 RS6.
No DRC issues.
No Gearbox issues.
Theres a few cars on there now running 700bhp plus and mega torque...and they get driven hard...no failures of gearboxes or engines....Audi really seemed to have moved the game on with reliability with this car.
Mine has been sweet as a nut....he says tempting fate!!!!......and i do "press" on most days...lol
The only issue that seems to plague the C6 CHASSIS and its not just the RS6 that suffers IS front wheel bearings have s
t seals, get water/debris ingress and start to "tick" on slow speed turns....most done under warranty....mine was out of warranty and Audi did them for free as goodwill?...but like i say not just a RS6 issue.
Of course running costs arent cheap....you may pick one up for 20k next year..but brake discs are 300 quid each....similar for Audi spec tyres....and youll need your own petrol tanker!!! lol
Not as dynamic as my old B7 RS4...but faster and a damn sight more reliable.
