Audi R8 V8 & V10 Fuel consumption comparison
Discussion
Hi all,
Would like to know what the 'real world' fuel consumption comparison between the R8 V8 and V10... is there much difference??.
Hoping to purchase an R8 Spyder at some point over the coming year and just trying to gain an understanding of the realistic fuel consumption figures for the two engines.
I'm currently favouring the V10 version and keen to understand a bit more about the fuel side of things.
Also, do both these engines run OK on'normal' unleaded fuel or is it a must that they use 'super' unleaded fuel.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you really worried about this on a £80K car?? My V8 R8 varies wildly on consumption dependant on journey as bad as 8mpg up to high 20's for constant motorway.....
Depends on your annual mileage. I usually average 15k miles a year, with my R8 at 16mpg in comparison to my previous 997GT3 at 22mpg, the R8 is using an extra 250 gallons of fuel a year, whch is an extra £1,500 pa. A reasonable factor in the running costs.

I'm 8 years late on this topic but considering an R8 vs a 996 turbo and it's a very useful comparison. Thanks. Interestingly I get about 2-3 mpg less (in most scenarios) out of my current 996 3.6 C2 than I did from my 996 3.6 Turbo, which is a heavier car and permanent 4wdI usually average 15k miles a year, with my R8 at 16mpg in comparison to my previous 997GT3 at 22mpg, the R8 is using an extra 250 gallons of fuel a year, whch is an extra £1,500 pa.
