audi a4 04 juddering when setting off. please help!
Discussion
i have an audi a4 2004 multitronic automatic 1.9 tdi.
i bought it with a gearbox problem 10 months ago, which resulted in me having the gearbox ecu remanufactured by reman.
the car has been fine since then, until lately (the past 3 months), it has started juddering when setting off.
this is my partners car,and is not just annoying and embarrassing when it does this, but is at times dangerous when pulling out of junctions.
you can nurse it gently to set off smoothly but not enough to safely drive.
it was plugged into diagnostic machine which showed up egr valve, so was cleaned out (lots of crap in there) but still no difference.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

Probably need a the clutch pack modification. Although I would have thought at that age it would have had it already.
Mutil tronics of this era have a 6 plate wet clutch, which was later modifed for 7 plates, this stops the judder and over engineers the thing slightly to be sure it doesnt happen again.
Oil cooler failure allowing anti freeze to contaminate the cluchs can and does happen, keep an eye for coolant loss.
These CVT's do have a DMF but when they fail is usually clattering noises on startup and shut down that give it away, juddering while possible is unlikely.
All this should be covered on the PH multi tronic thread,

I have the same problem.
The gearbox has done 115,000 miles and judders when pulling away up to about 1800revs.
Was quoted 1800quid to have the gearbox refurbed. I went to a local gearbox specialist in Chelmsford, when I told him what car I had, he knew exactly what the problem was. An oil pump apparently. They replace the pump and refurb the rest of the box, takes about 3 days and you get a 1 years warranty.
Not sure what to do at the moment as I was going to get rid of the car.
