All 4.2 TDI cars do, 3.0 I think is late 07. Prepared to be corrected on both of those points as it's not a piece of trivia Audi shout about, just going by experience.

Thanks for the info, the DPF replacement costs i've heard of on other vehicles are a little off putting, im just trying to find out what it would be on the Q7 now.

If they're treated ok, they shouldn't be a problem. I've done about 200k miles in Diesels and never had a light come on. The problem occurs when people buy Diesels and don't do enough miles for them to look after themselves ,

3.0 DPFs have never been a headache, on 4.2s there is a problematic sensor on there that is a bugger to get at but the filter itself isn't an issue.

Most of our Q7 customers use them around town and even then they seem ok (although this really isn't advisable for a modern diesel).

I have a 4.2 tdi and had a pressure sensors fail in the DPF
It cost me 550 to get sorted including relocation of the sensors so if they go again its a 10 minute job.
Official time is 8 or so hours so Audi would be looking for 1-1200 for this
The sensors are in a stupid stupid place up high so ackward to get to why they put them there is beyond anyone.
DPF costs 000's to replace if it goes wrong.

Accessing them is a gearbox out job. Don't ask me how I know.

DPF on my 10 plate 3.0TDi needed cleaning at 80k. This is a car that does pretty heavy motoryway miles, very rarely doing short journeys. Totally lost faith in modern diesels longevity due to the amount of tech they need around them to pass emission controls.
