Audi diesel bhp differences - how?
Discussion
Does anyone know how Audi alter the bhp figures on their diesel engines? Is it just a chip change?
There are:
1.9 TDi (110ps)
1.9 TDi (115ps)
1.9 TDi (130ps)
2.5 TDi (150ps)
2.5 TDi (155ps)
2.5 TDi (163ps)
2.5 TDi (180ps)
If it's just a chip, then I might buy a lower bhp model as they are much cheaper, then just chip it to a higher bhp spec.

The 110 is the old TDi design of diesel engine with a conventional injector pump. The 115 and 130 are the newer Pumpe Düse direct injection engines. I think the difference between the 115 and 130 is more than just a chip but the 115 can be chipped up to 130 easily.
The 1.8T petrols have 3 types of turbo to give the BHP levels between 150 and 225 BHP.

Differences are:
1.9 TDi (110ps) Old Skool maxed out
1.9 TDi (115ps) New skool small injectors
1.9 TDi (130ps) New skool big injectors/ecu modified
2.5 TDi (150ps) low power van version I think
2.5 TDi (155ps) dunno
2.5 TDi (163ps) low power verion
2.5 TDi (180ps) bigger turbo/intercooler
