So I tried explaining this to Audi to see if they could help. Parts department where either playing stupid or I just wasn't explaining it correctly as they simply didn't understand what I wanted to do

My rs4 that I just bought has the dash phone cradle (this: http://tinyurl.com/pnlkwya)

My idea is to "change" it to be able to hold a iphone 4

It doesn't have to be integrated either, I can use the cable coming from the glove box and connect from Bluetooth for phone call - so I just simply want something to hold the phone (if it could be connected or have the cable integrated even better)

I tried looking for a direct replacement that I could remove the cradle and bolt in the new iphone cradle but don't think that exists ??

What about removing the cradle and fixing a new phone holder trying to get it the same size to "fill in" the holes
or
doing some handy work and cutting down the current holder and attach a iphone holder somehow ?

Thanks
SK

edit: how do I edit the topic to read "final" frown

How much do you want to spend? Replace centre console and get a vent mount for your ipod/phone is the expensive option but probably the neatest.

'Plugging' the hole would work but how great it would look I've no idea.

Perhaps you could screw a Brodit phone mount onto it?

I thought you could get a cradle adapter from Audi to take an iPhone 4?

Buy the iPhone 3 cradle and adapt it. I did and it worked great after a few alterations with a dremmel. Surprisingly easy to do. I'd sell you mine if I hadn't chucked it!

I'm now on an android so have bought a replacement centre console. Fitting it next week.

There might be some truth in it - I had a iPhone 4 cradle for the vertical mount and it didn't grip the phone very well at all. I can imagine it working fine in the armrest. I returned the 4 cradle and customised the 3 cradle for my 4S.
