Help. Wife's boot will not open Leon Mk1

Hi all

Need some help how do I open the boot if it will not open by key fob or directly by key?
Its a mk1 Leon hatchback.

You'll need to pull down the rears seat(s) clamber in, pull the plastic cover off the lock and manually open it.

Got it open but seems like a tiny bit of plastic in the door lock has vanished as to why it will not open.

Going to see if I can create something to fix it. What an utter pain

She's really pushing me to change the car now - even though anything which fails is replaced with new parts I think she has had enough & to be frank taking up weekends doing faffing on the car is a drain.

To her cars are tools only to move you from A to B that is all - and given need two baby seats and good economy no Porsche fits the bill
