VW was working on a W12 powered coupe supercar,
what happened on that ?

They put some Bentley badges on it and called it the Continental GT.

Project canned. Badge couldn't support the market. Did win record for highest 24hour average speed (over 200mph at Nardo)

I think he's referring to the mid-engined VW supercar.

I think VW woke up one morning and realised they'd never sell any more Lambo's or Bugatti's if they ever productionised it...
