Hi all,

Looking at buying an 2012/2013 A6 Allroad, and trying to figure out what options I should care about and which I shouldn't. Have some specific questions:

1. There are two versions of the MMI satnav system, once is SD card based, the other is HDD based (and is apparently a £1500 option). Are they different enough to care about? Anyone used both enough to comment?

2. I believe the A6/Allroad has a USB cable into which you can plug a USB stick etc to play music off. Is this a standard feature, and if so are there any limitations?

3. One of the cars has a panoramic sunroof - do these make the interior of the car hotter in the summer?

I'm looking at a couple of cars, one of which has the HDD option, the other doesn't, and trying to figure out if this should be a deciding factor. Would appreciate any feedback from owners; it's quite hard to distinguish what the real-world differences are in the various tech packs.

Thanks

Mark

MMI Navigation Plus is nice; it gives you a larger, sharper screen and is very speedy in operation. The touch pad does work well.

You're talking about 'Audi Music Interface' rather than a USB port, it uses bespoke cables.

The panoramic roof has a full length electric blind.

If you message me your email I'll send you over a couple of relevant brochures so you can see what is standard vs optional and what does what smile

Thanks, I'm getting conflicting info about this from dealers and car specs. For example, There's a car listed as having MMI Plus here:

http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a...

But in the dealer video the screen has a 1" frame around it and I'm pretty certain it's the 6.5" screen!

Don't suppose you have pictures of both, do you?

Does the MMI Plus also have the touch-thingy on the central partition so you can scribe addresses?

MMI 3G basic plus (non HDD,3D maps,Joystick/touch input) looks like the one advertised.

There are MMI 3G basic & MMI 3G High, then there is MMI 3G+ basic & MMI 3G+ High.....

This is not MMI 3G+ or MMI Nav Plus

MMI 3G was the 3D maps, google came with "Audi connect" & was signified by "3G+ connect"(in the high format) or MMI Nav Plus. it's all confusing but just remember:

If it has Audi Connect, then is has Wifi hot spot (access point AP) & internet access, meaning Google, if it has NAV & Audi connect then it has google maps ability & Wifi ability & Nav on Hard drive (HDD). I've not seen a DVD Nav with google (audi connect) I believe it's too slow to do the overlay.

Nav comes in 3 formats: DVD disk, SD card, HDD (hard disk drive).

DVD disk is 2G & 3G
SD card is 3G
HDD is 3G+

Centre motorized screen
The "basic" as in MMI basic, screen is 6.5" diagonal, the "High" is 8" (although wiki says 7") trust me it measures 8" diagonal image.

MMI basic is the small screen
MMI High is the big screen but is normally sold as a tech pack or Nav plus package.

http://leaflets.ebcentre2.net/Leaflet.aspx?culture...

If you want google & a big screen, then you need "MMI Nav plus with Audi connect", this gives you the big screen, MMI touch (the plus bit, full voice address entry & command), Hot spot, Google map overlay live access via a SIM slot in the car dash & 2 SD Cards one either side of the sim slot. It also gives you the big DIS (driver information system) which comes in 2 variants (Basic black & white, high colour).

If your shopping pictures, you need to look at cabin images & look initially for MMI touch pad (a blank pad no silver divider bars, no markings, just a blank touch pad), then you can look at the spec list, because 99% that come with MMI touch have Audi connect and that means they have the Tech pack or MMI Nav plus.

I love Audi , it's like doing a million piece jigsaw....

Thanks, managed to figure it out in the end. There's another alternative (and detailed) write-up in the equivalent thread here:

There are only two in the case of a C7 Allroad.

MMI Navigation (SD, small screen, no touch pad)
MMI Navigation Plus (HDD, big screen, touch pad)

There is no DVD navigation option so the advert linked has a mistake in it. MMI Navigation is standard.

2G/3G/+/High/Basic are often misused or misunderstood and as a result difficult to use.
