My RS6 (2009) is telling me that the pads are getting low so I'll be booking into the local dealer in the next few days, located in Taunton, Somerset. This is the first work we will have done on the car since I bought it in December.

When requesting quotes etc (also needs headlight level control fault and ACC fault looking at as well as a new windscreen due to stone chip in swept area), do the dealers quote high in case any numpty wants to just pay what they want, or is it worth seeing if they will offer a discount? What kind of percentage should we be pushing for, if any?

Anyone had any experience with Audi Taunton?

Cheers

I had a RS6 C5 a few years back, personally if it was my pride and joy I wouldn't take to a main stealer my local Audi were so incompetent I wouldn't even trust them to change the battery in the key fob, I knew more about the car then some of there technicians.

I used to do a 200 mile round trip to Doug at MRC and it was still less then half what the stealers wanted to charge for things.

Plus you could get it mapped while your there to take it over 700 ponies and turn it into the car it should of been...

It already has the MTM 703 tune so not exactly lacking much; I would like to update to the MRC tune (plus gearbox tune) at some point but find it hard to justify a few more ponies for the money. If it was stock I'd have booked it in already smile

Problem is I only come back to the UK for a week every so often so can't afford the time to make the journey and would prefer the local dealer with a loaner car.

Dan,

My RS6 had the MTM tune and when Doug put it on their RR is came out with 605bhp IIRC. When the previous owner stumped up the cash and went with the MRC tune, it ran 753bhp.

But getting Doug to do any service work would be a good call too. Thats what I will do and its around a 150 mile trip each way.

I would avoid Taunton Audi personally for the following reasons.

Sold me a poorly prepared used car with damaged alloy and dangerous tyres.
Gave me my car back showing 6mpg
Worst of all left my wheel nuts loose.

I will never cross their threshold again.

Where would you go instead, in the Tiverton area?

Mine had a stage 2 remap and filters from MRC and was 704ps 850nm. I've recently had a gearbox service and remap, secondary cat bypass and map tweak. It's now 737ps and 1051nm. A modest power gain but it now feels like a totally different car and feels twice as fast again, MRC are awesome!

Probably best to ask over on RS246.com as im in North Somerset and have a local specialist I use but it would be a trek for you.

A quick web search turns up http://www.avs-audi.co.uk/ in Wellington; I have no personal experience of them but might be worth a call.

If your happy to source the parts yourself then a call to stoke audi parts ( http://www.stokeaudi-parts.co.uk/ ) is worthwhile as they offer a discount on genuine parts.
