alternative first gear ratio

anyone had any experience of fitting a higher ratio first gear set into an Audi A4 DCN, DHE or DWG transaxle....these transaxles have the higher final drive at 4.55:1, but their first gear ratio is about 3.5 i think, and i need about 4.1.....i don't know whether even such a gearset would fit and whether i'd have to get them specially made??
