Was in my local dealers and they have an offer on of £599 to have a Kenwood system retrofitted into my Golf.

Has anyone taken up this offer and if so, whats the system like?

Never realised this had been released. Looks like its similar to other mk7 systems that it piggy backs off the existing system. There's not a lot on the Kenwood site but looks like it just uses garmin maps. I'd be looking at the dnx525dab for the mk6 as I'd assume the ui and basic ui would be similar

Its only newly out. Doesn't integrate quite as well as the factory systems since its a different user interface and instructions won't come up on the instrument cluster display. However it is the only method to retrofit Nav and fairly well priced.

Few videos on YouTube demoing it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4RMztUpd1Y

Thanks for that, seems worth it to get a half decent satnav system into the car. The iPod charging cable is too short to stretch to a phone holder to allow me to use the iphone as a valid satnav unit.

Cheers

Personally I think you'd have to be very desperate to have integrated nav, rather than spending half that on a good Tom Tom system.

Use the usb charging cable and a standar iPhone charging cable from that to the iPhone . There you go. I found my usb cable in the draw under my drivers seat. Along with one for an iPhone 4

Can't understand why you would use inbuilt nav over Google maps/waze with live traffic etc.

I don't have the advanced telephone connection so don't have the USB port, only the bespoke thing inside the centre console.

What is it connected for, are you charging it or using it for playing music? It will still do most things through Bluetooth including Nav instructions.

You can get the USB port with an MDI adapter like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VW-USB-CABLE-MED...

That's all I have, but I got 3 connectors with the car. 1 lightning, 1 iPhone 4, and 1 usb as the above post.
