2005 Audi A4 CVT gearbox issue

Hi all, friend of mine has the above car in the 2.5diesel and has an issue with the CVT gearbox holding back on pull away when cold?
Gearbox has been serviced and had oil changed and he's tried the disconnect battery thing.

is this a common problem and what may the possible causes be?

anyone help?
