S3 Order

Hi all, having ordered a new S3 on the 12 February my first brand new car, i have received a call yesterday from the dealer telling me there is going to be a further delay of 6 weeks due to a fire at the factory supplying the door handles ?? Im fuming and considering cancelling the order,i spoke to them last week and voiced my worries with regards to internet stories regarding delays only to be told the car was on its way !! Anyone else had this story ??

What was the initial lead time offered? From what I hear a non-boring Audi still has a realistic lead time of 6 months (depressingly).

Christ, is that right? I was planning on a 3 month lead in for a new A4!

I ordered on Feb 12th and was given May 25th for delivery approx 15 weeks, the dealer said they may get it a week or 2 earlier, now they are saying a further 6 weeks !!!

Before I speak to the dealer can anyone tell me how I stand legally ? If I had gone for a cancelled order or approved used with delivery miles I would of been in a car a couple of months ago. I have paid a cash deposit and now starting to think its not going to be 6 wks but a whole lot longer, can I get that back ?

I heard the same story as the OP but doesn't impact our S3 which is build week 25 or so. I was told it impacts BW18 cars eg cars built about now I guess.

Edit - we ordered mid Feb and were given mid Jul delivery date.

Sounds legit then as no need for our dealer to have mentioned it really.

I thought Audi offered use of a car if the one you ordered is delayed.

These things can't be helped, it's just unfortunate it has effected your lead time.

Check your paperwork, but assuming it's not changed recently, you can cancel without loss of deposit if the car is more than 56 days late.
